It is an exciting career indeed, by becoming a court reporter you will work alongside attorneys, judges and other legal staff in a courtroom setting. There are also good opportunities and positions in this career. Furthermore, the pay is excellent and the opportunities are growing every year.

To become a court reporter, aside from a reporter resume, there are some skills that you’d need.

The very basic requirement is to have a strong base of the local language skill. You sure wouldn’t be a court reported if you make a report with lots of grammar mistakes, unorganized report, and things related with the language!

As things will be going for quite some time in the court, you need to be able to concentrate for a long period of time and stay yourself focused.

Some might think that losing their job is the end. But no, there are also people losing their job at least once in the whole of their careers; Don’t take it too personally! Losing your job could also mean a blessing in disguise.

After you can receive yourself, you must also receive your current situation. Don’t resent or even worse, pity yourself again! You need to foresee the future. Don’t think about the past anymore, get yourself a few days off. While having your days off, you might want to project yourself having a new job so that you are ready when it’s time to get into work again

For a short while, you’ll need to check your financial situation. Save some money and DO NOT touch it unless it is needed. Cut-down some unnecessary entertainment, eating out, etc and keep your credit cards away. Create a budget until you get your next job.

If you got some spare time left, get yourself more confidence by taking more things to be added into your resume. Get something like certifications, added educations, and things.

Your Workspace
Unless you have someone to help you clean up your desk in the morning, make sure that you clean it up before you leave your work. It is important part to start your day on a clean and well organized desk as it could also reduce stress at the office. In addition, having a clean desk will show that you are a well-organized person that pays attention to detail to superiors and co-workers.

Plants
